Restricting data transmission from iOS to Wi-Fi connections?

Mark Saxby Newbie

Is there any way in the SDK to set things such that data is only passed from iPads connected by WiFi rather than 3G?

A customer has had some problems with 3G users and would like to collect data only when an iPad connects via WiFi.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark, are the issues with 3G related  to Webtrends?  Are they trying to troubleshoot by disabling Webtrends for 3G?

There is no out of the box mechanism in the SDK to disable 3G (although you could likely do so manually), but as you know, we do send a param, WT.ct that describes the connection type so you can filter/report on 3G/wifi/offline usage.

No-one seems entirely sure,  but they were concerned that a number of crashes were WT related when on 3G, so they wanted to know if they could set the collection up to only work on Wifi and see if matters improved.

I know some improvements were made to our connectivity dropout handling since the first version of the client's app was put out there.

      Thanks,
